The Revolutionary War was one of the most defining times in United States history. There are several facts that the residents of the United States might not be aware of. Prior to the war John Adams, a notable patriot, defended the British soldiers who were involved in the Boston Massacre and successfully managed to get six out of the eight men proven innocent. Women would accompany men to war and majority of the women would help out by cooking and washing. The first shot of the war was fired on April 19, 1775, at the start of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. On the night of the Battle of Lexington and Concord Paul Revere did not shout "The British are coming", instead he would have shouted "The regulars are coming." Without the help of Benedict Arnold, an infamous traitor, the Continental Army wouldn't have been able to defeat the British at the Battle of Saratoga. The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle of the American Revolution which could not have been won without the help of the French troops.
